My husband and I just finished watching the movie Julie & Julia, and I was inspired by their drive and determination to put more energy into my art. So I thought I would start this blog to keep track of my thoughts along the way.
I'm currently thinking of all kinds of routes I could go with my art. I want to make so many things! But where should I start? Where should I focus?
Here's a list of things I want to do this year:
- Make a calendar
- Design fabric
- Have several completed series of drawings/illustrations (i.e. pinup, retro portraits, etc)
- Display my work in a gallery for a weekend
I guess I just have to get chipping away, but I'm unsure of where to start. At least I buckled down and made this website to organize everything. I wasn't keeping track of my art and I don't feel like I valued it as much because there was no closure to my drawings except occasionally posting them on Instagram. Now that I have this website, I'm posting my art for me more than anything because there's so little traffic to my website as of April 13th, 2020. And I'm totally fine with that. I'm thrilled to finally own Holly Starlight and build her up to be exactly what I want her to be.
I think I'll start with some retro portraits of my grandmothers. Stay tuned!
